Yes, I promised to post a blog yesterday and no, I didn’t do it. But as I said... I’m unreliable. You’re quite lucky that I’m actually writing this right now! So... where do I start? Let’s say from Monday.
Well, Monday was my first day of school here at Kaplan Aspect Edinburgh. And I overslept. How nice. But it didn’t matter, no one was mad at me or something and I just came in time to the entry test. I scored advanced which is pretty damn cool! The teachers actually told me that it wouldn’t make much sense if I took the Cambridge First Exam, so now I’m gonna do the CAE, the advanced one.
Later that day we took a walk to the city centre with Jim, a really cool and funny teacher. He knows a lot of old stories n stuff and he tells em in such a cool and funny way, you’ll probably never forget em! So watch out for some Edinburghian Storytimes once I’m back!
Tuesday... what did I do on Tuesday? Oh right, I had my first English Classes! It’s so weird really... especially when you didn’t go to school for half a year. And the level of our English classes in school wasn’t that high, it was just about average and now it’s really weird... I’m actually learning stuff I’ve never heard before! How cool is that? But haha omg... it’s soooo weird. I have homework. Like, wtf, I didn’t do homework for more than 5 years! And now I’m all like „ok, go to your room and do your homework“ Scary. Oh and I found out that there are quite a few Swiss people here, but everybody’s from the french part of Switzerland! But it’s cool anyways. Oh and there’s a guy in my class who’s been playing the piano about as long as I do, he’s swiss too I think, and he told me that they have a piano here in school. I checked it out on Wednesday and omg... it’s so bad. I don’t think you can really call that a piano, it’s so out of tune. Someone with an absolute pitch would DIE here. No seriously.
Ok then, Wednesday. Ummmm... Oh yeah, we recieved some information on the whole work part of my stay. A LOT of information. Btw, „we“ is Stephie, Maria and me. We got to know eachother on the first day and got along really well from the first minute on! It’s weird cause I never thought I would find friends that easily and that fast! So we’re hanging out on afternoons and stuff. Stephie actually lives just 5 minutes from my host family so we always go home together. They’re really sweet!
Thursday, which was yesterday if I’m right.. yes, it was yesterday. Today’s already Friday?! Geez... I so lost track of time. Oh right, yesterday we went to the art galleries on Princes Street, again with Jim, that cool teacher. He really knows a LOT. The art galleries are for FREE, how cool is that? You don’t even have to pay for the cloakroom! But we didn’t have that much time cause we arrived there at half past three, but we’re definitely going back there! It’s amazing! They even have a painting of Magritte
After dinner we went back to the city cause every Thursday there’s „Pub Night“. It was cool, a little empty, but we left really early so yeah... But it was nice! And funny... haha yeah, it was a lot of fun. The second pub we went to, had live music, geez, that guy on the fiddle knows how to work that instrument! Really cool. Afterwards we went to a night club and I kinda think that they forgot the alcohol in my Long Island Ice Tea... I mean it was good n all but I wasn’t even tipsy.
Oh well... we’re gonna give it another try tomorrow evening! Leave later and start drinking earlier. And dance :]
Btw, I just wanted to mention that I feel like I’ve been living here forever. No honestly. Well, I still don’t get that I’m gonna actually STAY here for 8 months, but it really feels like home right now. I mean... I’ve got awesome friends, in this awesome city, and everyday life seems just awesome at the moment. Even the buses![]()
That’s it for this week’s news, now all that’s left to say is...
WELCOME TO EDINBURGH!
Hope to hear from ya soon,
See ya n take care
Much love
Toni
